This dynamic, integrated course will provide healthcare professionals with the most comprehensive information vital to the basic interpretation of a 12-Lead ECG. In one intensive 6-hour course, you will recognize:

  • Location of frontal plane axis

  • Progression of the R Wave

  • Chamber enlargements

  • Intraventricular conduction defects

  • Myocardial ischemia, injury, and infarction

  • Supraventricular aberrancy versus ventricular ectopy

  • Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the successful participant will be able to:

  • Identify the location of the frontal plane axis and recognize the ECG quadrant. Recognize normal and abnormal R-wave progression.

  • Identify abnormal p-waves for atrial chamber enlargement. Evaluate for left ventricular enlargement utilizing the Estes method. Identify right ventricular enlargement.

  • Evaluate ECG for presence of bundle branch blocks.

  • Define acute cornonary syndrome, including NSTEMI and STEMI

  • Identify pathological q-waves, elevated ST segments, and inverted T waves.

  • Distinguish between supraventricular aberrancy versus ventricular ectopy rhythm.

  • Locate delta wave in Wolff-Parkinson White Syndrome.

Program Prerequisites:

Dysrhythmia Recognition Class

The participant should have a basic understanding of cardiac conduction, anatomy, and physiology. This course will not cover basic rhythms such as normal sinus, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, junctional, blocks, etc.
