Hospital Guild Board Members Installed
Like fine wines, the eight members on the board of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s Guild each have their own unique qualities.
The Guild, which raises funds for the hospital’s Laboratory Services, installed its 2010-2011 board at Valencia’s Tournament Players Club on April 14 with a wine-themed dinner in honor of its newest president, chef and caterer Tamra Oliner-Levine.
Oliner-Levine was brought to the podium by master of ceremonies Ed Masterson, SCV Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, to accept her position for the non-profit organization. She addressed her new board and the audience, which included her husband Jeffery Levine and mother-in-law Marjorie Levine, as well as outgoing Guild president Shelley Hann and her husband, G. Marshall Hann.
“Thank you so much for this honor. I’m proud to be part of this family. It’s not just one person, it’s all of us joining hands for a common goal to benefit Henry Mayo,” Oliner-Levine said.
The 2010-2011 Guild board also includes historian Susan Beesley, parliamentarian Mary McCormick, vice president of membership April Oliver, corresponding secretary Mary Montoya, treasurer Debra Weyand, recording secretary JoAnn Vindigni and president-elect Stacey Mayfield.
Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner of salad, a choice of ravioli, chicken, or salmon, and a frosted layer cake. A raffle was held for the clever cooking and kitchen utensil centerpieces, created by Guild member Eva Murray.
In her closing statement, Oliner-Levine reiterated her goals for the Guild board.
“We all know what the hospital stands for; it’s the community that may not know. My challenge for all of us is to go out and spread the word about the character of our hospital. That’s what I hope the next year is about,” she said.
