Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital invites residents of Santa Clarita Valley and the surrounding areas to spend some time at the first SCV Chamber of Commerce Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to learn about healthy lifestyles and the healthcare services available in our community.
The event, which is free to the community, will be held at College of the Canyons and includes more than 70 local healthcare professionals and businesses, including experts in family medicine, pediatrics, physical therapy, dentistry, public health, and more. Mini health education lectures on a variety of topics will be presented throughout the day.
Henry Mayo will offer a wide variety of free health information and screenings, including cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and carbon monoxide monitoring. There will be no charge for any of the screenings.
Henry Mayo clinical staff will also be on hand to answer questions about hospital services, including imaging, cardiac care, mammography, and smoking cessation. A pharmacist will be available to discuss concerns about prescription drugs.
“Visitors to the Health and Wellness Fair will have the opportunity to meet health care professionals with businesses located in the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Sydney Nicholas, chairman for the SCV Chamber of Commerce Health Care Committee. “Our purpose is to educate our community about healthy lifestyles and heighten awareness of the healthcare resources that are available close to home.”
Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, along with The Signal, is a Platinum sponsor for the SCV Chamber’s Health and Wellness Fair.
