Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is encouraging the community to help save a life by donating a unit of blood during the hospital’s Spring Blood Drive on Thursday, April 8, from 7 am to 7 pm, at the Henry Mayo/COC Clinical Education Center, 25727 McBean Parkway, Valencia.
Imagine knowing that you may have made a difference between life and death for someone. One blood donation can save the lives of up to three people, and your donation may actually save the life of a friend, neighbor or family member. It takes just a little time to make a big difference, with each donation typically taking less than an hour.
Free valet parking is available on the hospital campus for all hospital visitors, including individuals who come to the campus to donate blood.
Henry Mayo’s goal is to ensure that there are sufficient supplies available for every hospital patient that needs blood. The blood given during the drive will be returned to the community for hospital patients.
Giving blood is simple, painless, and it takes less than one hour. Any healthy person age 17 or older and weighing at least 110 pounds, and who has not donated blood in the last 8 weeks, may be able to donate blood. Donors can register on-line at www.henrymayo.com, call 661-253-8888 for an appointment, or simply show up between 7 am to 7 pm on April 8. Donors are requested to bring a valid photo I.D. and eat a nutritious meal prior to donating.
