Blossom as a Silver Rose Debutante

Since 1985, more than 300 high school senior girls have blossomed into confident young women ready to conquer the world as Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Guild Silver Rose Debutantes.

Established to help raise funds for the hospital, the Silver Rose Debutante season is filled with opportunities for young women to develop poise and learn skills that increase their confidence in handling social, academic, and business encounters while contributing to the community and making lifelong friendships.

The first half of the Debutante season involves the acquisition of new skills and knowledge while the second half offers opportunities for the young ladies to put everything they’ve learned into action.

A 2010 Silver Rose Debutante’s eventful social season consists of a Presentation Tea in September, the Fall Fashion Show in November, a Mother/Daughter Tea in February, and finally, the much anticipated Silver Rose Debutante Ball in March 2011.

Along with learning about social responsibility, communication, and proper etiquette, Debutantes are also now eligible for the Shelley L. Hann Education Scholarship. Awarded to one Debutante at the Sunday Farewell Breakfast the morning following the Ball, the $2,500 scholarship is an opportunity for the graduating Debutantes to receive support to further their education.

The Silver Rose Debutante program is open to all high school senior girls in the Santa Clarita Valley with a 2.5 GPA or higher. Applicants must be willing to complete 50 hours of volunteer community service during the debutante season and commit to the rules and regulations set forth by Hospital Guild. A program fee and Grand Ball ticket sales commitment also apply.

Applications for the 2010 to 2011 Henry Mayo Guild Silver Rose Debutante program are currently being accepted. An information night is scheduled to be held on August 10, 2010. For more information on the time and location and to reserve a space, please contact Terrie Cipriano in Volunteer Services at 661-253-8051.

Funds raised from the Debutante program benefit the hospital’s Laboratory Services.

Girls currently in their junior year of high school may participate in the Junior Debutante program and are also welcome to attend the information night.
