Santa Clarita "star" residents, partnered with professional dancers, will kick up their heels during the third annual Dancing with Our Stars fundraising event on April 2 at the Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills. Dancing pairs will compete for the top prize with proceeds benefitting the non-profit organizations they represent.
Shelley Hann, community volunteer and philanthropist, will dance for Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation. Hann and her dancing partner will be among 14 couples, representing local non-profit organizations. They will perform a meticulously rehearsed dance routine before three judges and a roomful of enthusiastic spectators.
Hann, who has a background in swing dancing, is looking forward to performing a swing dance for the Dancing with Our Stars event.
"I've always loved the event," Hann said. "Each year I've watched the dancers have so much fun, and this year I finally got up my courage to participate."
Hann said her goal is to raise funds for Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
Individuals can show support for Shelley and Henry Mayo by attending the Dancing with Our Stars event and/or purchasing proxy votes prior to the event. The cost is $25 for each proxy vote and there is no limit. All funds collected for Shelley Hann by proxy and on the night of the event will benefit Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
In line with her fundraising goals, Hann will also host three upcoming fundraisers: a Superbowl party at her home, Chateau Hann, for a $50 per person donation; a Sweetheart Valentine's Day dinner party at Chateau Hann, for a $125 per person donation; and a $10,000 opportunity drawing for a $50 donation per ticket. All donations will equate to "votes" for Shelley.

Individual ticket prices at the Dancing with Our Stars event, which includes dinner, are $100 for preferred seating and $85 for general admission. The event takes place on April 2, 6 p.m. at the Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills.
