Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center is dedicating three Mondays in February, Women’s Health Month, to entice busy women to take time to take care of themselves by getting a mammogram and enjoying special treatment.
“Mammo Mondays” was first initiated to encourage Henry Mayo employees, volunteers, physicians, and their office staff and spouses to get their annual mammograms. Health care professionals are invited to schedule appointments on Monday, February 8.
This year, Mammo Monday is extended to educators, school staff, and members of their families on February 15; Santa Clarita Valley businesswomen are encouraged to schedule mammograms on February 22.
These events are designed to encourage busy women to take care of themselves, because taking care of themselves is as important as educating our community and taking care of business and patients.
During their appointment, participants receive complimentary mini-massages, snacks and special gifts.
Appointments are available 7:45 am to 8 pm and can be scheduled by calling (661) 253-8822. Insurance carriers will be billed; special cash pricing is available for un-insured patients. Please ask for details when scheduling appointments.
The Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center, a service of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, was created through the experiences of breast cancer survivors and designed with a woman’s physical and emotional needs in mind.
The staff understands that women may have anxieties about getting a mammogram. Their goal is to improve access to breast imaging services in the Santa Clarita Valley with the specific intent to make it easier and more convenient for women to have their annual mammograms and to reduce the anxiety associated with breast cancer detection.
Ignoring breast cancer doesn’t make it go away…and discovering cancer in its early stages increases treatment options and allows a much greater chance of survival and positive outcomes.
According to the American Cancer Society, timely screenings can reduce breast cancer mortality in women age 40 and older by 17 to 30%.
Located on Henry Mayo Hospital’s campus, the center offers the latest digital technology, highly skilled medical and technical professionals, and input and collegial consultancy from the area's leading oncologists and other medical specialists.
Designated by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center is defined by quality standards and has undergone a rigorous accreditation process including image evaluations by a team of experts.
The Imaging Center is located at 23929 McBean Parkway, Suite 101, Valencia. The Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center has its own entrance, a home-like atmosphere, and friendly staff.
