Henry Mayo has completed another component of its expansion plan—the surgical department’s (OR) expansion and renovation--designed to accommodate the growing healthcare needs of our patients and community and providing first-rate surgical care.
Following approval by the California Department of Public Health, our newly constructed inpatient OR, was placed in operation in October. The OR expansion includes a new state-of-the art operating room--a fully integrated laparoscopic theater, allowing the surgical staff to coordinate procedures from central control stations. In addition, there are two more recovery stations, a remodel of the physicians’ and nurses’ lounges and locker rooms, and the comprehensive renovation of the current Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab.
The expansion will accommodate increased surgery cases and complexities, allow for easier access and maneuverability, and will include advanced technological and mechanical upgrades.
“This long and complex project has been the recipient of excellent architectural and engineering design, responsive construction contracting and great coordination among many key people,” said Roger Seaver, president and CEO at Henry Mayo. “At this time we are pleased to report that the room effectively increases our surgical capacity by 33%. Thank you to all involved for bringing this project online for the benefit of our healthcare delivery mission in the Santa Clarita Valley.”
The addition of the new OR brings the surgical department’s total operating rooms to nine –five inpatient ORs in the main hospital (including one dedicated to C-Sections) and four outpatient ORs in the Outpatient Surgery Center.
