Pharmacy Residency Program
The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital (HMNH) will provide individualized comprehensive training to prepare residents to become proficient and confident in acute care pharmacy practice. Residents who successfully complete HMNH’s pharmacy residency program will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership and education and be prepared to provide comprehensive patient care.
Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital
Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is a 357-bed, non-profit community hospital in the Santa Clarita Valley of Southern California. Henry Mayo is a Level II Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center and a STEMI Receiving Center with services in cardiology, spine and joint, oncology, diabetes, rehabilitation, women’s health, behavioral health and surgery.
The Department of Pharmacy’s mission is to provide high quality pharmaceutical care to our patients at Henry Mayo. Our pharmacy team provides 24-hour care and works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams as medication use experts in a decentralized pharmacy practice model. Services provided include but are not limited to antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation, medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetics, parenteral nutrition, interdisciplinary rounding, drug information and code response.
About Our PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency
Program Objectives
It is the mission of the HMNH Residency Program to ensure that residents who complete the PGY-1 program will be well prepared to practice as a general clinical pharmacy practitioner in an acute care setting while also maintaining the resident’s wellness. HMNH residents will train in pharmacy practice and management activities to be able to provide evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy management with interdisciplinary teams and develop their leadership skills.
Program Features
The program will provide the resident with exposure to multiple areas of pharmacy practice including direct patient care learning experiences. Duration of rotations may be adjusted to accommodate resident’s goals, interests, and prior experience.

- Nutrition and Glucose Management
- Advanced Internal Medicine
Additional electives may be developed based on the resident’s interests and resources available at the institution.
Applying
Applicant Qualifications
- Graduate from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited pharmacy program.
- Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a pharmacist in California
