Be Parkinson’s Disease Aware this April

What do you know about your risk for Parkinson’s disease? The most recent Parkinson’s Foundation Prevalence Project confirmed some things we knew about the disease, such as men having a higher risk than women. The goal of the project is to better understand who develops Parkinson’s and why. Rates of the disease are on track to rise to 1.2 million people by 2030. World Parkinson’s Day is Monday, April 11th, so it’s a good time to think about what you can do to reduce your risk.

Following a Mediterranean style eating pattern and staying physically active may reduce your risk for Parkinson’s Disease. Henry Mayo Community Education has programs to help you do both! We also offer programs to understand and improve life with Parkinson’s Disease. Check out our schedule https://www.henrymayo.com/classes-events/.

You can start by adding more greens in your diet. Take a look at these great recipes from Taste of Home-
