Located on the campus of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in the beautiful Santa Clarita Valley, our Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) is an LPS designated acute psychiatric care facility. For adult male or female patients in psychological crisis, we provide a warm, friendly, safe, structured and confidential environment staffed by a team of healthcare professionals working in tandem with Henry Mayo’s emergency room, nursing departments and community partners. Our health care professionals are among the most experienced in the behavioral health field and specially trained in emergency procedures and crisis intervention. Our staff is committed to providing the highest quality care by interacting with our patients in a therapeutic way, looking at each individual patient and not just the symptoms.
We treat a wide range of acute psychiatric illnesses, including major depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder and schizophrenia. Admission to the BHU can be on a voluntary or involuntary basis. We welcome inquiries from individuals who are concerned about the welfare of family members or others who are receiving or may require treatment for a psychological disorder.
Patient services include assessment of emotional and psychological issues, Initial health screening, case management, medication management, treatment planning, community integration planning and referrals. Referrals from other health care providers and insurance carriers are always welcome.
