Wayne and Connie Spears Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Opened in 2010, the Wayne and Connie Spears Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has the capacity, staffing and state-of-the-art technology to treat the community’s most critically ill and injured patients.
The 9,410-square-foot facility is staffed by a specialized, multidisciplinary team of health care professionals, including nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, social workers physical therapists and occupational therapists who provide around-the-clock treatment, diagnosis, interventions, individualized care and monitoring for patients with life-threatening illnesses and injuries. All ICU nurses have advanced life support training and many of them are nationally certified in critical care. Critical care intensivists are staffed 24/7 onsite. Intensivists and staff conduct multidisciplinary team rounds on each patient twice daily.
The ICU is a locked unit and includes 18 patient rooms, a dedicated waiting area for patients' families and friends, as well as a family conference room and a dedicated elevator to allow easy access from the emergency department and the hospital's imaging services. While the ICU provides state-of-the-art medical care for critically ill patients, it has also been designed to provide a caring environment for patients and their families and friends.
