Henry Mayo Brings Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to the Santa Clarita Valley

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Wound Care Clinic has installed two hyperbaric oxygen chambers to treat patients suffering from problem wounds brought on by conditions such as diabetes mellitus and arterial disease.

During treatment, a patient breathes 100 percent oxygen while inside a pressurized hyperbaric chamber.  The combination of added pressure and oxygen significantly increases the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream.  The benefits of HBOT include:

  • Preservation of injured tissue
  • Delivery of oxygen to injured tissue
  • Faster wound healing and reduced risk of infection
  • The ability to grow new blood vessels

Brian Downs, DO, clinical director of Henry Mayo’s Wound Care clinic, said, “Hyperbaric therapy has proven very effective in treating certain types of chronic wounds. We are very pleased that we can now offer this cutting-edge therapy to residents of the Santa Clarita Valley. “

Henry Mayo’s newly remodeled wound care clinic is located at 23861 McBean Parkway, building E, Suite 16.  The clinic’s phone number is 661-200-1525. The clinic will open in mid-August. More information is available at henrymayo.com/woundcare.
