October Message From Foundation President

Dear friends,

October is Breast Cancer Awareness and every year Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center selects a former patient and breast cancer survivor to serve as an ambassador to the community. She shares her story in hopes of encouraging others to get annual mammogram screenings, and amplifying the importance of early detection. This year’s breast cancer Testimonial Speaker is Amanda Kasahara, a Nurse in our PACU, a long-time Santa Clarita Valley resident, wife, mother, grandmother, and breast cancer survivor. We want to thank Amanda for sharing her story. We ask that you please schedule your annual mammogram, early detection saves lives!

Each year during October, we partner with local businesses in the community to raise awareness and funds for the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center. We are so grateful and want to thank all of our 2022 Breast Cancer Awareness community partners. Please join in supporting our efforts by participating in the many community event and activities we have scheduled this month. Click here for up-to-date information and the full calendar of events.

We are grateful for your support of Henry Mayo’s Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center! The breast center was created by philanthropy of family and friends of Sheila Veloz, with support from other breast cancer survivors, patients and their families. Our goal has always been to provide compassionate care and support to every patient who visits the center. With your continued support we are able to provide state-of-the-art and life-saving breast care to the Santa Clarita Valley, and help underinsured and uninsured women receive diagnosis and treatment. Please consider making a donation today!

Sincerely,

Marlee Lauffer
