November Foundation President's Message

Dear Friends,

November is the month of thanks and gratitude. At Henry Mayo, we are grateful to our dedicated team of employees and physicians who work tirelessly to provide outstanding care to our patients. And we so appreciate our community and their generous support of our not-for-profit independent hospital.

We are also honored by so many individuals, families and businesses who have helped us grow by making meaningful investments in Henry Mayo. We’d like to pay special tribute to Wayne Spears, who, with his wife Connie, helped us build a new and expanded intensive care unit and has been a steady contributor to our emergency services programs. Wayne passed away earlier this year, but his memory lives on in so many ways, especially here at Henry Mayo. This is the season of memories, and we invite you to participate in our Gift of Life and our Light up a Life Ceremony to honor or memorialize special people in your life.

As we approach the holidays, we ring it in with a wonderful, long standing community tradition, our Holiday Home Tour Gala. All funds raised from Home Tour go towards our Center for Women and Newborns, and our Kim and Steven Ullman NICU. More information may be found below for those interested in supporting this festive event.

We welcome Peter Veloz, President of UVDI, to our hospital Board of Directors. Peter's roots in the Santa Clarita Valley are deep and we know he will provide great guidance and insight to our Board. We also have a new Chief Nursing Officer and we’re proud to introduce to you Vicki White. Vicki’s extensive career and knowledge will help us continue to grow our nursing programs.

In November, we focus on Lung Health and Men’s Health. Please encourage loved ones to get appropriate screenings and take care of themselves.
