October Foundation President's Message

Dear Friends,

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center focuses on providing the highest level of individualized breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment plans to the Santa Clarita Valley. The breast center was created by the passion and philanthropy of family and friends of Sheila Veloz, with support from breast cancer survivors, and our generous community.

Each year during October, we partner with local businesses in the community to raise awareness and funds for the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center. We are so grateful and want to thank all of our 2023 Breast Cancer Awareness community partners. Please join in supporting our efforts by participating in the many community event and activities we have scheduled this month. Click here for up-to-date information and the full calendar of events.

Over the years, it has been a tradition for Henry Mayo’s Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center to select a breast cancer survivor to serve as an ambassador to the community to share her story in hopes of encouraging others to get annual mammogram screenings, and amplifying the importance of early detection. This year’s Testimonial Speaker is Lisa Passamonte Green. You can read her full story here. We are grateful to Lisa for her heartfelt advocacy of the services she received through Henry Mayo and Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center.

Our goal has always been to provide compassionate care and support to every patient who visits the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center. With your continued support we are able to provide state-of-the-art and life-saving breast care to the Santa Clarita Valley, and help underinsured and uninsured women receive diagnosis and treatment. Please consider making a donation today!
