Last week, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center received a generous donation from Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley (SIGSCV), a local non-profit organization. The group presented funds to ten local non-profits that align with its mission of empowering women and girls.
SIGSCV‘s President Holly Hanlin, presented the check to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation President, Marlee Lauffer. The funds will be used to provide the best technology and services from technologists and physicians proficient in mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy and pre-operative localizations.
The Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center was created through the experiences of breast cancer survivors, patients and their families; the center is designed with the physical and emotional needs of patients in mind. The goal of the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center is to improve access to breast imaging services in the Santa Clarita Valley by making it easier for women to have their annual mammograms, and to reduce the anxiety associated with breast cancer detection.
SIGSCV's President, Holly Hanlin, added, "We consider it our honor and privilege to give back to our community. We are grateful to have the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center in our community and appreciate that the staff help meet the needs of their patients by expanding the scheduling hours to include Saturdays, evening and lunchtime appointments while offering 3D mammograms to all patients.”
