Henry Mayo Welcomes First “Tower Babies”
Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital opened its new patient tower to patients on Sunday, October 27, and in short order the hospital’s new Center for Women and Newborns saw the arrival of its first baby boy and baby girl.
Jameson Arthur Stairs was born on Sunday at approximately 10:15 a.m. to parents Garrett and Elizabeth Stairs. At 3:21 pm the same day Natalie Chen was born to Chen Chen and Xianan Ding.
“Moving into our new Center for Women and Newborns made for an exciting day,” said Lori Matzner, Director for the Center for Women and Newborns and Maternal Child Health Services at Henry Mayo. “Then the arrival of Jameson and Natalie made the day even more special. We look forward to welcoming many, many more babies in the months and years to come.”
The Center for Women and Newborns occupies the second floor of the new tower, which also houses two new surgical suites. On floors three through five of the tower are 90 private rooms for medical and surgical patients. The basement of the tower contains a new kitchen and café, and the café has an outdoor dining area in which diners can admire a beautiful mural painted by Santa Clarita artist Frank Rock. The first floor of the tower contains the new Robert M. and Andi Parker Blood Bank.
