Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation is Grateful for its Corporate Partners

Our Corporate Partners annual giving commitment provides much-needed support to the patient care programs of our Emergency Department and Trauma Services and our Center for Women and Newborns.

Today, our emergency services are more critical than ever. While always open for all emergent injuries or illnesses, our ED also became the center for COVID-19 related admissions. To accommodate the steady influx of patients and to protect all needing our services, we constructed three large tents outside the emergency room to screen, test, triage and isolate patients as needed. The support of our generous Corporate Partners have been critical to that effort.

Our Center for Women and Newborns moved to the second floor of the New Patient Tower in the Fall of 2019. The expanded new unit features state of the art labor and delivery rooms and all private post and ante partum rooms. One of the early challenges of COVID-19 was how to isolate labor patients if they test positive. Fortunately, we had the access to the older closed women’s unit to utilize as an isolated COVID-19 labor and delivery location. Again the support of our Corporate Partners and our community in building the New Tower greatly benefited our ability to provide safe and timely care to all patients at all times. Twice a year, our corporate partners are invited to private briefings on healthcare issues. Last week, our presentation focused on our Robert M. and Andi Parker Laboratory and our hospital pharmacy services. Whether it is analyzing thousands of lab tests, delivering prescribed drugs and treatments to patients, or administering COVID-19 vaccines to staff and our community, the lab and pharmacy programs at Henry Mayo are essential 24 hours a day. Carissa Bortugno, PharmD, oversees these operations. Raised in the Santa Clarita Valley, Carissa returned to our community with a doctorate and a passion for service in healthcare and shared her expertise and knowledge with our Corporate Partners.
