LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is occasionally one of Santa Clarita’s filming locations. Healthcare locations are difficult to find primarily because they are 24/7 operations. However, Henry Mayo has a rather unique situation. As a result of the move into the new patient tower in 2019, some older patient rooms were available for use at certain times. These areas were listed with LA Film Locations at the time, not knowing that in early 2020, a global pandemic loomed which would cause everything to come to a halt.

The creative sector, just like all other businesses, was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and production jobs were greatly reduced. Many film and television professionals in the Santa Clarita Valley experienced economic hardship as a result of a decline in activity. Recently, LA Film Locations contacted the hospital and negotiated Henry Mayo as a backdrop for their clients’ dramatic plot lines. Some productions have included, CBS’ NCIS, Amazon Studios’ “With Love,” and FX Networks’ American Horror Story just to name a few.
