Message from the Foundation President Marlee Lauffer – June 2022
Happy June!
School is out, summer vacations are planned and Father’s Day is around the corner. And, this is the start of Men’s Health Month! Across the county, June focuses on raising awareness about healthcare for men and encouraging boys, men, and their families to implement healthy living decisions.
According to a 2020 study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, men in the United States are less likely to seek medical care compared to women and 37% more likely to withhold information from their doctors during annual visits. We hope our efforts to raise awareness improves those statistics!
When you openly speak with your health care provider, they can help you identify potential health concerns and assess your risk for developing health problems in the future. Here are some important health screening tests specifically for men to consider: Blood Pressure Screenings, Cardiovascular Screenings, Skin Cancer Exams, Colorectal Cancer Exams, and Testicular Cancer Exams. Speak to your physician or seek out more information on local healthcare providers though our website HenryMayo.com. And, join us in wearing blue on June 17th to highlight Men’s Health Month.
