Local Family Foundation Supports New Vitek2XL Analyzer
Thanks to the generosity of a local family foundation, in collaboration with the Foundation, a vital piece of equipment has been acquired for the team at the Roberta M. and Andi Parker Laboratory at Henry Mayo. The purchase of the Vitek 2 XL instrument ensures that the laboratory can continue its important work efficiently and effectively.
This advanced machine is essential for microbial identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing. With the new instrument, the hospital can increase its testing capacity, expand antibiotic testing capabilities, and deliver faster results. The rapid bedside results provided by this equipment significantly improve diagnosis and treatment times, particularly in the Emergency Department, where timely blood draws are critical.
The impact of this gift extends beyond the laboratory. By enhancing microbial stewardship in our community, the new Vitek 2 XL supports better health outcomes for all patients, helping to prevent the spread of resistant infections and ensuring more effective treatment options. We are deeply grateful to the local family foundation for making it possible for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital to enhance its services with this essential piece of equipment.
